The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC)

Trauma surgeon LJ Punch, MD, addresses the life-changing work of the Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC), which he founded in 2020. The BRIC is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that provides trauma-informed, accessible, and culturally competent care and services to gunshot victims and their families. Through holistic, patient-centered care, the BRIC strives to help people regain their personal agency to heal physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. The BRIC serves 250 patients annually through direct care and also supports families and community members indirectly impacted by bullets. The grant from the Kaiser Permanente Center for Gun Violence Research and Education will help to strengthen care for more patients and families, fuel the clinic’s community engagement, and sustain the hardworking team as they advance the BRIC’s mission.
