Dr. Julie Richards, Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute

Julie Richards, PhD, MPH, and assistant investigator at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute, describes her team’s study of suicide prevention in health care settings. The grant from the Kaiser Permanente Center for Gun Violence Research and Education will support Dr. Richards in engaging those with lived experience — including firearm owners and individuals who have experienced suicidality — in research on interventions that integrate suicide prevention into routine primary health care, such as providing firearm locking devices to patients.
