Kenya Jackson currently serves as the research manager for the Interrupting Violence in Youth and Young adults Project (IVYY Project) at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Kenya is a clinical researcher and epidemiologist and has previously held positions at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center within Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the Atlanta VA, the University of Michigan, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as well as more than 10 years of experience working with underserved children and families as a program director at Peace Neighborhood Center in Ann Arbor, MI. Focusing on violence as a public health issue, Kenya is inspired daily by the resiliency of those touched by violence and trauma, especially black men and boys.
Megan J. O’Toole, PhD, is Senior Director of Research at Everytown for Gun Safety. Her work focuses on preventing gun violence in cities primarily through collaborative and community-led strategies. She also serves as Research Chair at Fund for a Safer Future, where she leads a committee of subject matter experts in stewarding annual research grants. Prior to joining Everytown, she worked at the Vera Institute of Justice and John Jay’s Research and Evaluation Center. She holds a doctorate in psychology and law from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she also serves as an adjunct professor.
