Speakers will include:
Tami D. Benton, MD, is the Psychiatrist-in-Chief and Chair of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DCAPBS) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She is a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She also serves as President of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). Dr. Benton’s career has been dedicated to developing leadership for a diverse child psychiatry workforce. Her mission, preparing the next generation of diverse physician leaders in pediatric healthcare and mental health and creating partnerships between communities and academic centers, is critical for eliminating disparities among minority and underserved populations.
Dr. Benton specializes in working with children from underserved urban communities. She works with the entire family or support system to improve the lives of children.
Desmond Upton Patton, PhD, MSW, is the 31st PIK University Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, with joint appointments in the School of Social Policy & Practice and the Annenberg School for Communication, where he is the Waldo E Johnson Jr. Professor of Communication. He also holds secondary appointments in the Department of Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia & Perelman School of Medicine. He is founding director of SAFElab, founding faculty director of the Penn Center for Inclusive Innovation & Technology, and Chief Innovation Officer for the School of Social Policy & Practice.
Professor Patton’s groundbreaking research examines the relationship between social media and gun violence, grief, and loss, focusing on how online communities influence offline behavior. His work has evolved into broader investigations of language analysis and algorithmic bias in artificial intelligence. He currently serves as a member of Spotify’s Safety Advisory Council, the Ethics and Equity Advisory Council (EEAC) at Axon, TikTok’s U.S. Content Advisory Council, and is a trusted advisor to several AI startups.
Antonio “Lorr Tone” Moore is a 26 year young community leader and marketing data expert from East Baltimore who advises big brands on understanding Gen Z & Alpha consumers. In 2023 his young friend, also named Antonio “Tone”, was shot dead in East Baltimore while working following weeks of social media beef amongst his young friends and rival crews. In the wake of his friend’s death, Tone co-founded Social Media Trust and Safety Labs, an intelligence platform working to remove social media as a factor in retaliatory shootings.
