As firearm injuries continue to claim lives—particularly among children and teenagers—the need for evidence-based prevention remains urgent. Experts, legislators, researchers, and advocates welcome to attend.

Held in conjunction with National Gun Violence Awareness Day, this event will foster dialogue and collaboration through expert panels, research presentations, and policy discussions. Attendees will explore the latest data-driven strategies, evidence-based policies, community-led interventions, and public health innovations aimed at reducing firearm-related harm. The conference seeks to generate actionable recommendations and advance initiatives that promote safer communities.

This event is made possible through funding from the Kaiser Permanente Center for Gun Violence Research and Education and sponsored by the Texas Violence & Injury Prevention Research Center (VIPR), McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, and UTHealth Houston School of Public Health.
