Our Advisory Committee
The Center has assembled an Advisory Committee of national gun violence prevention thought leaders, researchers, experts, and individuals with diverse backgrounds whose lives have been affected by gun violence. The Advisory Committee works to deepen the understanding of gun violence as a public health crisis, with a specific focus on health equity; advocate for more research in communities of color; and share best practices to advance the field of gun violence prevention.

“Our funding can bring great value for young investigators who are entering this field, especially people of color, to get more support for their work without traditional systemic barriers.”
— Ali Rowhani-Rahbar, PhD, MD, MPH, Bartley Dobb Professor for the Study and Prevention of Violence, and Interim Director, Firearm Injury & Policy Research Program, University of Washington
“We need to be bolder, more unapologetic, and more aspirational in our approach, putting a greater sense of urgency to the issue of gun violence and making sure that research is getting to the people.”
— Po Murray, Chairwoman, Newtown Action Alliance & Foundation
“What excites me is that we have a chance to apply more advanced methodologies, more advanced types of interventions, more complex and enduring community collaborations - combining the greatest of behavioral science, policy interventions, environmental engineering, and more – to reduce firearm suicide, homicide, or unintentional injury.”
